I’d rather be here today

Today in the mountains of North Carolina we woke up to a frosty 27 degrees. I would much rather be on Elbow Cay in Abaco, where the current temperature is 75. We've also had a lot of rain this fall. It feels like fall slipped away almost before it got here and turned to winter.

To see more about the Abacos, please visit Abaco Escape, Sandy Estabrook’s gorgeous website which contains hundreds of beautiful photos of the area along with local information, including the beautiful deserted beach shown above on Elbow Cay in the Bahamas.

  3. Looks tempting! But I'm hoping the cold brings on the autumn colors.

  4. I cannot believe it - you are colder than we are! (Minnesota) Positively balmy here. But I will be dreaming of warmer climes very soon.

  6. I don't blame you :-). It looks beautiful and you sound cold. Bundle up and make some soup. Have a great, if chilly, day.

  10. Ironically, my parents who split time between Franklin (cabin on Wayah) and Florida are stuck in Florida right now. I had to rub in the temps and the leaves starting to turn:) I'm just evil like that!

  11. Sam, have you looked out your window? It is GORGEOUS here! Put on a warm sweater, go out and kick some leaves, and enjoy the bright sun dappling through the brilliant autumn colors.

  17. Sam,
I'm with you. I had rather be at this beautiful, warm beach, too. This cold, frosty weather here in the Blue Ridge Mtn. is a shock after the warm weather. Hopefully, today it will get warmer and I can thaw out. Stay warm!

  19. Nasty! I have heard from a friend in South Carolina that even there the temperature fell below 32°!
We had snow last week, it snowed a whole morning. I almost fell out of my socks when I got up and looked out the window, all unprepared for the big white flakes slowly falling from the sky!
Today, the sky was leaden and grayness covered everything in the city. There was no light reflecting anywhere, unless it came from artificial sources.
I am dreading the thought of this lasting for the next five months. I have lived most of my life in the south, and now that!

  20. What a beautiful picture of the beach! It cheered me up as I sit in the cold rainy grayness of Michigan :)

  21. That sandy beach looks so inviting. We're getting into the season I dislike the most: 40 degrees and raining. I'll just have to dream of the beach on a warm day.

  24. The weather sounds divine! We are headed up at this moment (yes, I am blogging in the car) to the North Georgia mountains for the weekend. I can hardly wait for some real Fall weather.

  26. Sam, Abaco is beautiful, but I have to say that the Mountains of Western North Carolina are pretty spectacular too. That's one of the places on my top-10 "places I'd like to live" list.

    After Belgium, of course!
