Hi everyone. I’m just checking in, midway through my therapy, to say hello and also to say how much I miss visiting with you and reading your blogs. On my last post I touched on that I’m suffering from neck pain right now that stems from my chronic back pain and my time allotted at the computer has been drastically reduced. I’m seeing a physical therapist who has put me on a restricted schedule of what I can and cannot do right now. A great big thanks to those of you who have stayed in touch and asked about my progress. Right now I’m about half way through and my therapist feels that I am progressing nicely. The best news is that I’m feeling much better. So my life should be back to normal in a couple of weeks.
Part of my prescription is to take it easy and what better place to take at easy than at the beach. Last week Meakin took me to the Yucatan Beach Stand for lunch where we devoured a couple of their spicy Yucatan Sunfish fish tacos, filled with grilled fish, crunchy cabbage, tomatoes, and cilantro with a dash of ranch dressing - a house specialty. Then we enjoyed a leisurely stroll along Fort Myers Beach.

Life is good - we are enjoying retirement and a mild winter. The only kind of white stuff I ever want to see in the winter is powdery white beach sand. Have a great week everyone and I hope to be back to blogging in a couple of weeks.
So glad you are doing better! Neck pain is the worse, because there is nothing that you can do that doesn't involve your neck!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are progressing nicely with the therapy. Neck and back pain are awful. The beach time sounds like good therapy also.

Good to know that you are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteTake care!
Cheers,
Rosa
Sam, I am so happy to hear this news. And going to the beach...that just makes retirement life pretty perfect. Hang in with the PT. Is is a "pain" to stick with it, but it will help. Hugs, Susan
ReplyDeleteI am glad to hear that your health is progressing for the better Sam. I have thought about you often. What better way to relax and take it easy than at the beach with a cocktail and sunshine.
ReplyDeleteI am glad to hear that you are feeling better! The beach makes me want to book a flight to Naples...lol
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Penny

I am so happy you posted an update. I need to leave the computer also - it does wreak havoc with back and neck! (Moi aussi!) I wish I had a beach destination. Oh how I smiled at the opening photo!

ReplyDeleteOn the beach in winter, I wish. The weather here is foul and I am now more than fed up with rain day in and day out. I guess better than snow, but only just with frosts every morning. Glad you are doing well, just take your time we will all be here when you return. Diane
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear your halfway there and feeling better.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Beautiful beach photo.
So glad to hear you're feeling better, Sam! Keep up the good work of taking it easy :) The beach looks wonderful as I look out at the snow.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear you're feeling better Sam and that everything is coming along nicely! It was snowing on my drive home tonight, the beach sounds pretty good to me too-enjoy:@)
ReplyDeleteDear Sam, I'm thinking of you and hoping for a full recovery. I'm glad to hear you are at the beach and not here. Snow Saturday and Sunday, but it is almost all gone now.
ReplyDeleteI have been thinking about you a lot and sending you all my best wishes. I hope that your therapy continues to go well and that you are back shortly. In the meantime, enjoy the beach! I knew I could count on Meakin to spoil you :)
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear your pain is reduced and you are healing. We miss you and hope you are back soon. I've been thinking of you since I made your Chicken Marbella on Friday and your recipe for the ham and cheese biscuits on Saturday for breakfast.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I agree, Life is Better at the Beach!!
HELLO SAM

Glad you are escaping the snow.

Glad to hear you are doing better! I hope you continue to recover and are back to blogging soon. The older I get, the more I think the beach is the place to be in the winter, too. :)
ReplyDeleteGeçmis olsun, Sam. In Turkish that means "get well soon."
ReplyDeleteMe alegra saber que estás mejor CAROLINA... UNAS VACACIONES SIEMPRE SON UN BUEN REMEDIO PARA TODOS LOS MALES!!!.

Glad to hear the therapy is working. That looks like a good place to spend the winter.
ReplyDeleteSo glad your therapy is going well. You have been in my thoughts. Take care and just enjoy the beautiful Florida weather. eat good food and relax.
ReplyDeleteI have chronic neck and back pain too and I just know I should be staying away from the computer more. Easier said than done! OH, the beach is beautiful......
ReplyDeleteLike you, Sam, I have these problems and sitting at the computer is the worst thing for me.
ReplyDeleteI am being forced to use the computer only two hours per day.It is really good for me.Far less neck and back trouble.
The beach is a great place in winter.. Hope you are all better soon.
Beach therapy always works for me, Sam. Glad you're doing better.
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better, Sam. Take care!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous area to recuperate, Sam! I feel better just LOOKING at that pretty white sand instead of our snow.
ReplyDeleteI hope you continue to improve & feel better each day. We miss you & your wonderful recipes!
I played lots of golf in & around the Ft. Myers area when we lived in Venice, FL for 9 years. My bestest friend in all the world lives in Gateway, right across from the airport. This is the 2nd year in a row that we haven't gone back for a month or so. DH is just not up to traveling. *sigh* Make the best of every day you've got, guys!
Hugs,
Rett
Sam, I have not visited in a long time so I was really sad to hear you have been having back pain, but glad to hear you are feeling better. Look forward to getting back to reading more blogs including yours!
ReplyDeleteSam,
ReplyDeleteI sure hope you will be well soon. I'm sorry to hear about your neck pain and I hope the theraphy will work and you'll soon be well. I enjoy reading your posts very much. Maybe it won't be long until you can start blogging again. I miss your recipes and great dishes of food. Best wishes.
Sam,
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your neck. I know about that, too.
Enjoy the beaches and the sunshine! Take care!
So glad to hear from you Sam. Keep us posted.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you're on the mend, Sam, and what a great place for some sunshine therapy! Take care!
ReplyDeleteHurry up and get better! And tell Meakin to quit being a pain in the neck, ha ha.
ReplyDeleteRelax and enjoy!
ReplyDeleteMmmm, nothing like fresh fish tacos on a beach! And what a great therapeutic thing for Meakin to do for you (taking you to the warm and sunny beach) while you are progressing with your therapy. I know that if I don't take my every other day swim and a soak in a powerful hot tub, I'll feel the little recovery aches within 2 days. Therapists are miracle workers to me! I wish you the best and the fullest recovery Sam!
ReplyDeleteBe well,
Roz
Sam, I'm so glad to hear that you are on the mend. Rest assured that we have not forgotten you. We do, however, want you back in fighting form as soon as possible. Take care. Hugs and blessings...Mary
ReplyDeleteI am happy to hear that you are progressing...and, doing it in a lovely location! The tacos sound wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy that sand and sun! We'll be here when you get back!
ReplyDeleteJust stopping by to wish you a Happy Valentine's Day! Glad to hear your recovery is coming along - back and neck problems just take time, there's no rushing it. You are wise to follow "doctor's orders" about what is okay and not okay to do. And of course being faithful with the PT exercises. That beach looks exactly like where I spent New Year's Eve - Siesta Key. It was so perfect and white. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteOh Sam...I am so glad to know that you are getting better...thanks for the update and yes..."Life is better at the beach"
ReplyDeleteWarm regards my dear :)
oh here is hoping you get better fast and soon- your right0 no better place to relax than the beach. I am jealous:) Hope you are doing well and hope you feel better soon
ReplyDeleteI hope your health is continuing to improve, Sam, and that you will soon be pain free. Beach time filled with warm sun and sand and lots of rest will hopefully help. Don't rush it and enjoy as much as possible!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your neck...that is awful. Hope you are improving every day...No better place than the beach. XO, Mona
ReplyDeleteSam...so pleased to read you're doing well. I've thought about you often. Sounds like you are being an ideal patient! Good for you, and for Meakin, who is giving you treats exactly when you need them.
ReplyDeleteNo question about it...life IS better at the beach!
I hope you will be feeling better every day, dear Sam! Chronic pain is a burdon, I know. Hang in there & enjoy life & rest on the beach! ;)

ReplyDeleteDear Sam, I am happy to hear that you are doing well. I just got a computer and am trying my very best to catch up with my dear friends. I want to that you for visiting me and leaving encouraging words. I am recovering from the storm slowly but surely. It is life changing, but not the worst thing that can happen. I have met many nice people who have been very helpful and kind. Good comes from everything and a learning lesson too.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to getting my kitchen back and cooking a good and healthy meal again. It is difficult to eat very healthy using a cooler and ice!! But, even that is not that bad.
The fish taco sounds very good and I am sure it was. I wish you the very, very best and hope that you are feeling like new real soon. I will keep you in my prayers and thank you again for your kind comments. Blessings and xoxo, Catherine
